Foods That Can Cause Migraine Attacks.

Foods and drinks can provoke migraines in sensitive people, but migraine triggers vary. Common dietary causes for migraines include:

Aged Cheese: Blue, cheddar, Parmesan, and Swiss cheese contain significant levels of tyramine, a naturally occurring chemical that can cause headaches.

Processed Meats: Nitrites and other additives in bacon, hot dogs, sausage, and deli meats can cause migraines.

In vulnerable people, phenylethylamine in chocolate can cause migraines. Chocolate also includes caffeine, which can cause migraines.

Alcohol: Some people get migraines from red wine, beer, whiskey, and champagne. Dehydration and blood vessel dilatation from alcohol can trigger migraines.

Artificial Sweeteners: Aspartame and sucralose might cause migraines in some people. Diet sodas, gum, and other sugar-free items contain these sweeteners.

Peanuts, almonds, pecans, and sesame seeds have significant quantities of tyramine and other chemicals that might cause migraines in sensitive people.

Remember that migraine triggers vary and that not everyone is sensitive to the same foods. Keep a migraine journal to track food intake and symptoms to identify triggers and guide diet changes.
